Procedure for Moustache Transplant

Here are the steps involved in the procedure of a moustache transplant:

1. Numbing of the donor and recipient areas- The surgeon provides the patient with local anaesthesia injection so that the procedure is well tolerated by the patient.
2. Harvesting of hair grafts- Once the donor and recipient sites are numb, the surgeon carefully extracts the hair follicles from donor sites by either of two techniques: Follicular Unit Transplantation/Strip Method and Follicular Unit Extraction. FUT involves cutting out a linear strip of hair-bearing skin and then dissecting it under the microscope to get donor hair grafts. FUE involves using a micro punch tool to directly extract the hair follicular units for transplantation.
3. Preparation of moustache zone- The upper lip area is prepared for receiving transplant by creating multiple tiny slits using a sharp tool.
4. Placing of individual hair follicle units in the moustache zone- The surgeon finally places the grafts carefully at precise angles into each slit for a natural-looking restoration of moustache hair.
